School discovery plugin
The selectiveHQ plugin receives only the arguments sent to its tools, such as school filters, school IDs or a location. It does not request your full conversation, access private student records, or read your website shortlist and notes. Search and comparison tools read our public school dataset.
Location lookup sends the address or suburb you provide to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service. Location searches may be cached temporarily in server memory. Catchment and radius calculations run on our server. Exact coordinates can appear in returned map links; check those links before sharing them.
Plugin requests do not run website analytics or session replay. We do not store plugin conversations or tool arguments in our application database. Infrastructure request and error logs may still be retained as described below. ChatGPT and any external sites you open apply their own privacy policies.
Shortlists and notes
A random browser cookie connects you to saved schools and notes in our hosted database. There are no user accounts or cross-device synchronisation. Removing a saved school deletes its current shortlist entry and notes. Clearing cookies removes your browser’s access but does not itself delete stored entries. Export your shortlist before clearing cookies if you want to retain a copy.
Please avoid entering children’s names, health information, contact details or other sensitive personal information in notes or correction reports. Our operators can access stored records for maintenance and correction review. Do not treat notes as a confidential records service.
Map and address searches
Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap, which receives your browser’s network information and the tile areas you view. Submitting an address sends the search through our server to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service; recent searches may be cached temporarily in server memory. You can place a map pin instead of typing an address. Location and filters may appear in the page URL, so check the URL before sharing it.
Cookies, browser storage and logs
We use the shortlist cookie and browser storage for comparison selections, and PostHog uses browser storage and cookies to recognise repeat visits and group analytics events into sessions. Hosting infrastructure may retain ordinary request and error logs, including IP addresses, request URLs and timestamps, to operate and secure the service. Do not put sensitive personal information in a search or URL.
Analytics and session replay
We use PostHog, hosted in the United States, to understand page visits, clicks, navigation and how people use the site. Session replay reconstructs interactions with the website so we can identify usability problems. PostHog receives browser and device information and network information, including your IP address, when your browser connects.
Recordings show school selections, filters, application status and map interactions, including map pins. Free-text inputs are masked. Private notes and address results are excluded from replay, and URL query strings and fragments are removed from analytics. We do not record network request bodies, headers or browser console logs. We do not associate analytics with your shortlist cookie or identify you by name or email.
Corrections and external websites
Correction reports are stored for review and are not automatically published or sent to schools. Do not include personal information in a report. External school and provider websites apply their own privacy policies when you follow their links.
